What is the history behind STELLA NOVA?
STELLA NOVA is a 27.40-metre classic motor yacht built in 1971 by the German shipyard Schiffswerft Hameln for Swedish Count Lennart Bernadotte. Designed originally as a private floating summer residence, she spent three decades cruising the coasts of Sweden, Denmark and Germany. Her provenance and aristocratic heritage make her a rare opportunity for buyers seeking a yacht with genuine historical character.
Has STELLA NOVA been restored or refitted?
Yes. Between 2003 and 2006, STELLA NOVA underwent a comprehensive restoration and overhaul. The refit included a full repaint, installation of new Scania V8 engines, replacement of electrical systems and piping, and a completely renewed interior. The works were carried out by Pampas Marina in collaboration with respected names including Nautor Swan and Retloffs Carpentry. As a result, she combines classic styling with modernised systems.
How does STELLA NOVA perform at sea?
Powered by twin 650hp Scania V8 diesel engines (installed during her refit), STELLA NOVA reaches a top speed of approximately 18 knots and cruises comfortably at 12 knots. At economical speeds of around 8 knots, she is capable of highly efficient passage-making. Her twin-screw displacement configuration delivers steady, reassuring performance rather than high-speed planing.

STELLA NOVA accommodates up to 10 guests across 5 cabins. The spacious main saloon is centred around a long dining table with booth seating, offering an inviting social space with sightlines through to the bridge and its traditional large wooden steering wheel. STELLA NOVA's original owner created a universally loved ship that would help in the discovery of the world's canals, rivers, seas and oceans in safety and in style. All those who've crossed paths with STELLA NOVA in the past would wish that her new owner would be touched by her rich and varied history in the same way that STELLA NOVA touched the lives of her voyagers over the last 50 years.
