Get up close with Deception’s large colony of Chinstrap penguins before going ashore to explore the frozen landscapes. Only for the bold, Deception is also the perfect spot to take a polar plunge. Gently heated by the island’s volcano, dive into the waters around Pendulum Cove before warming up back on board.

Lying between Adelaide Island and Graham Land, the Gullet is a beautiful narrow channel surrounded by soaring mountains tipped with snow. Flat and calm, the water in the Gullet offers perfect conditions for tranquil cruising on your charter yacht through blue-ice glaciers to Marguerite Bay. On the west side of the Antarctic Peninsula, Marguerite Bay is made up of ice and rock and is the ideal spot to observe the continent’s incredible marine life.

Livingston Island

Livingston Island

Welcome to Livingston Island, a gem of the Antarctic region. The island is a haven for wildlife, attracting several species of seals, penguins, and seabirds, making it a perfect spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers.

Livingston Island is the second largest of the South Shetland Islands and has two important nature reserves used by scientists to study and monitor the island’s wildlife. It's home to Hannah Point, where sandy slopes lead to pebble beaches.

If you are interested in history, here you will also find remnants of early 19th-century sealing stations and scientific research bases from various countries. These historical markers offer an interesting glimpse into the island's past and the human endeavors to explore and understand this remote part of the world.

You can observe and photograph the colonies of penguins and elephant seals who call Livingston home. Walk a little way up the beach to catch a glimpse of neighbouring Deception Island, the next port of call.

Anchor in the island’s sheltered bay and go ashore to discover spectacular coastal walks.

For a novel hot spring experience, dig a hole in the black sand down on Port Foster beach and relax in the warm water gently heated by the island’s volcano.
After, you can explore the remnants of the island's whaling history at Whalers Bay, where you can see old buildings and rusting boilers that tell the story of the island's industrial past. Hike up to Neptune's Window for beautiful views of the island and the surrounding. Whilst ashore, don’t miss the opportunity to get up close and personal with some Chinstrap penguins.

Often called the "Gateway to the Weddell Sea, this narrow strait, about 30 miles long, is surrounded ice-covered islands, creating a stunning and dramatic landscape you won’t see anywhere else. Named after the ship Antarctic from the Swedish Antarctic Expedition led by Otto Nordenskjöld in the early 1900s, the sound is famous for its incredible beauty and the remarkable ice formations we mentioned before.

As you cruise the edge of the Weddell Sea, watch out for passing ice flows. You’ll pass nearby an important Emperor penguin rookery on Snow Hill Island so it may be possible to catch a glimpse of the elusive penguins resting on the drift ice before they head for open water.
