2018 Monaco Yacht Show - What to Expect at This Year's Event

We look back on last year’s dazzling edition of the Monaco Yacht Show and give you an exclusive preview of what’s in store for 2018

Set against the glittering backdrop of the Port Hercules, the 2017 edition of the Monaco Yacht Show was definitely an event to remember. During the 4-day show, over 125 superyachts were on display in the French Riviera sunshine, including popular displacement charter yacht Mon Plaisir. 45 new builds made their world debut during the 2017 event, whilst onshore the new Quai Antoine 1er exhibition area was a showcase for the most prestigious superyacht lifestyle brands and activities.

With 580 international exhibitors and over 30 000 visitors to the show last year, the 2017 event will be a hard act to follow. But organisers Informa Exhibitions are already planning MYS 2018 and have promised that this year’s edition of the show will be one to watch. With several new initiatives in the pipeline for 2018 including a seminar programme, more focus on luxury lifestyle brands and an updated concierge service, it will be all eyes on Monaco this September for another unmissable edition of the largest and most glamorous yacht show on the planet.

Video Highlights from 2017

This year’s show will be held in the Port Hercules from the 26-29th September and will bring together key players from all areas of the yachting industry. With over 500 exhibitors and partners on hand, MYS 2018 will be the ideal setting to meet with the world’s most respected shipyards, award-winning interior designers, luxury suppliers and of course all the top international brokerage houses. Whether you’re in the market for a new superyacht, planning your next charter or simply want to check out the latest onboard design trends, MYS 2018 will be this year’s premier yachting event.

Monaco Yacht Summit

One of the highlights of the 2018 MYS will undoubtedly be the Monaco Yacht Summit which will be held before the official opening on the 25th of September. This exclusive event has been designed for potential new superyacht charterers and buyers and will offer a programme of 5 table-talks led by industry leaders and superyacht representatives. Participants will be given clear and unbiased information on various topics for a first-time charter or purchase of a superyacht and places can be reserved in advance upon application to the MYS concierge service.

Getting Around

The exhibition space for 2018’s show will be divided up into several different zones in and around the Port Hercules. Shuttle services will be available for visitors to easily move between the northern and southern docks of the Port with several options including buses, boats and eco-friendly electric golf buggies. Courtesy cars will be available for multipass badge holders to travel to and from the show within Monaco, and the MYS will also offer helicopter shuttle service for guests flying into the Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport.

Yachts on Show

Although the full list of yachts attending this year’s show is currently a closely-guarded secret, organisers Informa have promised a stunning exhibition of over 125 unique superyachts for 2018 including sail, motor and explorer yachts – though we don’t know how many of these yachts are for sale. This extraordinary collection of the world’s most sensational superyachts will be showcased along the northern and southern docks in the Port Hercules with individual viewings and sea trials available upon reservation.

Supercars at the Show

Launched in 2017, the Quai Antoine 1er will once again be the epicenter for all superyacht lifestyle activities. This year the dock will play host to the ‘Car Deck’, a display of 15 high-performance supercars handpicked to appeal to superyacht owners and their guests. Admire the latest prestige cars from the crème de la crème of the automobile industry including McLaren, Aston Martin and Lamborghini before taking a thrilling test drive around Monaco’s world-famous Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit. From open water to the open road, a bespoke super car is definitely the ultimate superyacht accessory for 2018.

Tenders and Toys

Following on from its success last year, the 2018 edition of the Tenders & Toys exhibition will also be found on the Quai Antoine 1er. Dedicated to the latest and greatest on-board water toys, this space will showcase an exciting range of leisure equipment ranging from jet packs and fly boards to amphibious vehicles and personal submarines. This year there will be 15 tenders and toys on display on the dock with an additional 20 plus tenders on show in the water in the Quai Jarlin. If you’re looking to enhance your superyacht experience by purchasing a high-speed, high-adrenalin water toy or want to keep the kids busy this season with their very own inflatable water park, the 2018 Tenders & Toys exhibition will be the place to do it.

Exhibition Lounge

Overlooking the central pontoons, the ultra-modern Starboard exhibition lounge will also be situated on the Quai Antoine 1er at this year’s show. This spacious contemporary hall will host a wide range of superyacht lifestyle companies dedicated to the arts, luxury products and charter destinations. This is also where you’ll find the official Press and Business centers for the week-long event, a chic restaurant with a sunny terrace and a stylish lounge bar for drinks with friends during the show.

Upper Deck Lounge

Located in the Parvis Piscine exhibition tent, the Upper Deck Lounge will be the place to see and be seen during the 2018 show. The Upper Deck will offer guests a range of services including the MYS restaurant hosted with the Fairmont Hotel Monte Carlo, the Lanson Champagne Bar and the Lounge area with complimentary WIFI access. Open from 10 am to 6.30 pm, the Upper Deck is the ideal space to hold a meeting with business partners, enjoy a meal with colleagues or celebrate a successful day spent choosing your latest superyacht.

Nightlife

Once night falls over the principality, the MYS really comes into its own and this year’s show looks set to be one of the best yet with a full programme of social events and parties being planned for 2018. The MYS Inaugural Gala Party will start the festivities off with a bang with a black-tie dinner and awards ceremony honouring the finest in superyacht interior and exterior design for 2018. And with cocktail parties, product launches and dinners all on the agenda for this September, the MYS 2018 is bound to be the social event of the year right here in the heart of the French Riviera.
