Windward Islands

WINDWARD ISLANDS YACHT CHARTER

The Windward Islands are one of our favourite yacht charter destinations; this group of island nations in the South East Caribbean offer the perfect glimpse of what the Caribbean is best known for. That is, turquoise blue waters, palm-lined beaches, laid-back lifestyles, fantastic food and of course, music.

Made up of Dominica, Martinique, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Grenada, amongst many other smaller islands and territories, it’s the perfect place to escape with family or friends. Read on to explore our itinerary ideas for luxury yacht charters in the Windward islands.

SUPER YACHT CHARTER IN THE WINDWARD ISLANDS

Most yacht charters in the Windwards run north to south, starting in Guadeloupe. Spending a day or two here really lets you get a feel for the Windward islands. This pair of islands are perfect for exploring the bays and beaches. On land, head up the volcano La Grande Soufriere and take in the views. Refuel and relax afterwards with coffee and lunch at the Saint Francois resort. Next stop is southwards towards Dominica, but with a stop at the astoundingly beautiful islets of Les Saints on the way. These are the perfect spots to enjoy some diving and some swimming on your yacht charter. Dominica is famed for its rugged beauty and nature. Take to the shore and explore the Morne Trois Pitons National Park which is home to the world’s second-largest hot spring. The adventurous among you can take on the newly opened, 185km Waitukubili National Trail… or you could just sip a cocktail on board your Dominica yacht charter.

WET AND WILD IN THE WINDWARD ISLANDS

Of course, the Caribbean is all about the water, whether it’s surfing at Prequ’ile de Caravelle, snorkelling in the bays of quiet Bequia or exclusive Mustique, or diving at the Underwater Sculpture Park on Grenada, there’s plenty to do to get your feet wet.

DINE ON AWARD-WINNING FOOD AT EXCLUSIVE RESORTS

As you’d expect from the Caribbean, exquisite seafood is on the menu at all the top restaurants. Some of these include The Belem on Martinique (this tuna tataki, or foie gras with starfruit), Anse La Raye on St Lucia (famous for its generous portions of lobster), and Boucan (also on St Lucia), which is perfect for a romantic getaway. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with having your onboard chefs cook up your own meal on your St Lucia charter.

DROP ANCHOR IN EXCLUSIVE BAYS

The private island of Mustique has long been known as the getaway spot for the rich, counting actors musicians and royalty alike as visitors. But if you think it’s just about the glitz and glamour, you’ll be mistaken. Macaroni Bay is a place where you can kick back, relax, and enjoy yourself away from the paps. A Mustique yacht charter is to experience privacy.

Elsewhere, Marigot Bay in St Lucia is renowned as a superyacht destination. St Vincent and the Grenadines are famed for their black sand beaches, while Bequia is known for the annual Easter Regatta.

CAPTAIN'S COMMENTS

I love bringing a charter to the Windward Islands. They’re all different, with their own quirks and charms and it means both crew and guests get to experience what the Caribbean is all about.
